Metals, Inc., a precision sheet metal manufacturer located in
Denver, Colorado, has just been awarded its forth Gold Award
from the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District. To be eligible
for this award the company must demonstrate one hundred percent
compliance with Metro Wastewater Reclamation District Pretreatment
Requirements. Which include quarterly sampling and analysis
of flow discharge using techniques specified in Title 40, Part
136 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 136), proper
disposal of hazardous waste, and a commitment to environmental
excellence.
The
company's pollution prevention and waste minimization efforts
include: substituting a non-chromate desmutter for the chromate
solution, recycling all scrap metal, eliminating all ozone depleting
chemicals form its facility, reducing the usage of high VOC
paints, installing a solvent recovery system, reducing natural
gas consumption, installing high volume-low pressure (HVLP)
nozzles, replacing incandescent light fixtures with high efficiency
fluorescent tubes, reducing water usage, and implementing a
paper and paperboard recycling program. Previous Gold Awards
were received in 1996, 1998, and 1999.
